Why Doesn't Hollywood Make Any Movies About Slavery?

When Malcolm X visited Saudi Arabia in 1964 he failed to tell his followers that slavery had been in full swing there until being officially abolished in 1962.

More recently the world has heard about the dismal treatment of African maids by their Saudi masters. Showing the amount of abuse they encounter, last summer it was reported that three housemaids committed suicide by hanging themselves at their employers’ houses in the Saudi capital Riyadh in less than a week.

And conditions for other workers aren't much better. Nearby Qatar has often been referred to as a country which consists of 300 people, a radio station, and slave labour.

In the Middle East Arabs commonly refer to black people as, 'Abeed,' which means, 'Slave.'

And the unofficial trade still exists all over the region:

Sometimes the Saudis give in and do something altruistic. For example they have invested in robot camel jockeys because too many slave boys were getting killed racing the animals for the entertainment of the wealthy.

And if you're wealthy you can get away with anything.

Proving that sex slaves exist within their culture a prince named Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud was recently convicted of beating to death his servant in London, England. Known to be gay and, while homosexuality is punishable by death in the kingdom, rich royalty will get away with anything-even murder. But not in England!

But wait: The British relented and sent him home to serve the remainder of his sentence.

And recently this ad appeared on a Saudi Facebook page:

I have a [male] slave I bought from an African country and arranged for his visa stay till I got him to Saudi [Arabia] His description: 1 – Black skin. Tall 172 sm. Weight 60 kilos. 2 – Castrated (excellent for working with a family) you can check him with a doctor our yourself if you have experience in the matter. 3 – [His] health is quite undamaged and has no imperfections. 4 – Age 26 years. 5 – Religion muslim and [he is] obedient and will not disobey you except in what displeases God.
